Recently, I attended the WordCamp Omaha conference to further my education on the website development platform that we use at Pro Printing and Graphics, Wordpress. About 150 designers and developers came together for the day long event to learn more about everything from editing and customizing themes to localizing SEO and making the most of your location to supporting the end user (the customer) in the easiest way possible.
Here are a few key takeaways from WordCamp Omaha:
- Anything is possible. Wordpress allows an unlimited number of customizable features, if you know your way around. From simple techniques like shortcodes and themes to more advanced options like editing your CSS, you can tweak your site to look just how you want it.
- SEO is very important. Building your website from the ground up with SEO in mind is essential. Use outside tools like Google Adwords to see how people search for your site. 40% of traffic on search engines is said to be local - so we want to make sure you can be found!
- Keep your audience at the top of your mind. Use links, videos, and engaging pictures on your website to keep people there longer. What do they want to see? What do they want to learn? Visuals will not only make your site relevant, but also interesting to your visitors.
I would definitely recommend attending a WordCamp in your area if you are using Wordpress as your website development platform! Needing a new website for your business? Call us today to schedule a consultation!
